Agreement Overview
By accessing or using Job Application Optimizer (JAO), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use our service.
1. Definitions
- "JAO," "we," "us," "our": Job Application Optimizer
- "Service": The JAO web application and all related features
- "User," "you," "your": Any person or entity using JAO
- "Content": Your profile data, resumes, job analyses, and generated documents
- "Credits": Prepaid units used to access premium features (job analysis, document generation)
2. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using JAO, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you're using JAO on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.
3. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use JAO
- You must provide accurate and complete registration information
- You must not be prohibited from using JAO under applicable laws
- You may only have one account per person
4. Account Registration and Security
4.1 Account Creation
- You must provide a valid email address and create a secure password
- You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- You're responsible for all activities that occur under your account
4.2 Account Security
- Notify us immediately at security@job-application-optimizer.com if you suspect unauthorized access
- We're not liable for losses caused by unauthorized use of your account
- You must not share your account with others or allow others to access it
4.3 Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms of Service
- You engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
- Your account is inactive for more than 2 years
- We're required to do so by law
You may delete your account anytime by emailing support@job-application-optimizer.com.
5. Credits and Pricing
5.1 Free Credits
- New users receive 5 free credits upon account creation
- Free credits cannot be transferred, refunded, or redeemed for cash
5.2 Purchasing Credits
- Credits can be purchased in packages (e.g., €15 for 10 credits, €25 for 20 credits, €50 for 50 credits)
- Payment is processed securely via Stripe
- All prices are in Euros (€) and include applicable taxes
5.3 Credit Usage
- Job Search: 1 credit per job analyzed (25/50/100 jobs options)
- Document Generation: 1 credit per resume or cover letter generated
- Credits are deducted automatically when you use features
5.4 Credit Expiration
- Purchased credits do not expire as long as your account is active
- If your account is deleted, all remaining credits are forfeited
5.5 No Refunds
All credit purchases are final and non-refundable. Credits are consumed upon use. If you experience a technical error that incorrectly deducts credits, contact support within 7 days for a manual credit adjustment.
6. Acceptable Use
6.1 Permitted Use
You may use JAO to:
- Analyze job postings for compatibility with your profile
- Generate ATS-optimized resumes and cover letters
- Search for jobs that match your skills and preferences
6.2 Prohibited Use
You may NOT:
- Use JAO for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
- Scrape, crawl, or automate access to JAO (except via official APIs, if available)
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of JAO
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Create multiple accounts to abuse free credits
- Share your account with others or resell access to JAO
- Use JAO to spam, harass, or harm others
- Attempt to bypass credit limits or payment systems
- Upload copyrighted content you don't have rights to (e.g., someone else's resume)
7. Content and Intellectual Property
7.1 Your Content
- You retain ownership of all content you upload (profile data, resumes, etc.)
- By using JAO, you grant us a license to process your content to provide the Service
- We may use anonymized, aggregated data for analytics and service improvement
7.2 JAO's Intellectual Property
- JAO owns all rights to the platform, including code, design, algorithms, and branding
- You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of JAO without written permission
- Our name, logo, and trademarks are protected and may not be used without authorization
7.3 Generated Documents
- You own the resumes and cover letters generated by JAO
- You're free to use, modify, and distribute them as you see fit
- JAO is not responsible for the accuracy or effectiveness of generated documents
8. Third-Party Services
JAO integrates with third-party services:
- LinkedIn: Job data is scraped from publicly available LinkedIn job postings
- Stripe: Payment processing
- Claude AI (Anthropic): AI-powered job analysis and document generation
- Apify: LinkedIn job scraping
Your use of these services may be subject to their own terms of service. JAO is not responsible for third-party services or changes to their availability.
9. Service Availability
9.1 Uptime
- We strive for 99.9% uptime but don't guarantee uninterrupted service
- Maintenance windows may cause temporary downtime (we'll notify you when possible)
9.2 Changes to Service
- We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time
- We may change pricing with 30 days' notice (won't affect already-purchased credits)
9.3 Beta Features
- Some features may be labeled as "Beta" or "Experimental"
- Beta features may be unstable, changed, or removed without notice
10. Disclaimers
10.1 No Employment Guarantee
JAO does not guarantee job offers, interviews, or employment. We provide tools to optimize your job search, but success depends on many factors outside our control.
10.2 AI-Generated Content
Job analyses and generated documents are produced by AI (Claude). While we strive for accuracy:
- AI outputs may contain errors, inaccuracies, or biases
- You should review and edit all generated content before using it
- JAO is not liable for consequences of using AI-generated content
10.3 LinkedIn Data
Job data is scraped from public LinkedIn postings. We're not affiliated with LinkedIn, and job information may be outdated or inaccurate. Always verify details on the original job posting.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- JAO is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
- We're not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months (or €50, whichever is less)
- We're not liable for data loss, missed opportunities, or third-party actions
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold JAO harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms of Service
- Your misuse of the Service
- Your violation of any third-party rights (e.g., uploading copyrighted content)
13. Dispute Resolution
13.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to conflict of law principles.
13.2 Informal Resolution
Before filing a legal claim, please contact us at legal@job-application-optimizer.comto resolve the issue informally. We'll respond within 30 days.
13.3 Arbitration
If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in France, except where prohibited by law.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Significant changes will be announced via email.
Continued use of JAO after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Termination
15.1 By You
You may terminate your account anytime by emailing support@job-application-optimizer.com. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. All remaining credits will be forfeited.
15.2 By Us
We may terminate your account immediately if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
- We're required to do so by law
Termination does not entitle you to a refund. You remain liable for any outstanding obligations.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and JAO. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
